Terms of use

These Terms of Use form an agreement between the user and the Typoly publisher identified in the Legal Notice. By creating an account or using Typoly, the user agrees to these terms and the Privacy Policy.

The French version of these terms is the reference version. The English version is a translation. In the event of a discrepancy, the French version prevails, subject to applicable mandatory provisions and consumer rights.

Typoly does not impose voluntary commercial geographic restrictions. Access to the service and purchases remain subject to applicable laws, including sanctions and export controls, and to the availability of technical providers and payment methods in the relevant country.

Important changes to the Terms of Sale or Terms of Use are announced by email to the address associated with the account one month before they take effect.

Creating an account and using Typoly are restricted to people aged 18 or older.

Each account is strictly personal and for one person only. Family sharing, account transfers, and accounts managed by a team, school, or employer are not offered.

Users must provide accurate account information, protect their credentials, keep access personal, and promptly report suspected compromise. A user remains responsible for authorised activity on the account, subject to mandatory law and Typoly's security duties.

Email must be confirmed before any launch credit is awarded and full service is used. Typoly supports password reset, revokes existing sessions after a password change, and uses TOTP multifactor verification for recovery when enabled. Account deletion requires reauthentication.

Users may not create accounts in bulk, evade credit or rate limits, resell access, share credentials, impersonate others, or use stolen payment methods.

The launch trial may award 2 credits after email confirmation, subject to activation and fraud limits: one award per account and installation, no more than three per IP address per day, and one hundred in total per UTC day. The promotion may be changed, suspended, or ended and creates no entitlement before credit is awarded. Once awarded, launch credits have no expiry date while the account remains open and the service remains available.

Typoly grants a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the macOS app for its intended purpose while the agreement remains active. Ownership is not transferred.

Except where applicable law expressly permits it, users may not copy, modify, distribute, rent, sell, sublicense, circumvent technical controls, extract confidential components, or reverse engineer the service. Open-source components remain governed by their own licences.

The account holder may use their account on all their personal Macs, with no limit on the number of Macs. Credits are shared across these Macs. History stays local to each Mac and is not synced between devices. The service allows up to two corrections in progress at the same time per account; this limit does not restrict the number of permitted Macs.

The account holder may use Typoly for personal and professional purposes with their personal account on their personal Macs. This permission does not allow sharing the account with other people.

Users retain rights in text they submit. They grant Typoly only the limited, worldwide, temporary right necessary to transmit, process, secure, and return that text and to calculate usage. This permission ends when processing and legally required security/billing operations are complete.

Users must have the right to process submitted text and must avoid entering secrets or regulated data unless the disclosed service safeguards and their own obligations permit it. Corrections are machine-generated suggestions; users control whether and how the result is used.

In Proofread mode, Typoly aims to fix objective mistakes without rephrasing. In Contextual mode, users also request wording improvements, so the result may differ more substantially from the original and may alter its meaning. Users must review every result before use.

Users must not use Typoly to:

• break the law, sanctions, export controls, or third-party rights;
• distribute malware, phishing, spam, harassment, exploitation, or deceptive content;
• probe, disrupt, overload, scrape, or gain unauthorised access to systems or accounts;
• automate requests outside documented functionality or bypass provider and concurrency limits;
• submit content whose processing is prohibited by an employer, client, contract, or law.

Enforcement will be proportionate and users may contest a non-urgent decision through support.

Typoly requires Accessibility to detect the chosen trigger and interact with the focused text field. Users can revoke it in macOS settings, but correction will stop.

App updates are offered through Sparkle. Onboarding lets you choose automatic update checks and, separately, automatic downloads and installation. You can change these choices in settings. You can also check manually from the Typoly menu. When a new version is detected, the app shows its availability.

Users may stop using Typoly and request account deletion. Typoly may suspend or terminate for material breach, security risk, fraud, or legal necessity, with notice and appeal unless urgency prevents it. The Terms of Sale govern remaining paid credit and refunds.

French law applies without removing mandatory rights in the user's country of residence. The court provisions in the Terms of Sale apply to consumer disputes.
